Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different events.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.
His retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better service.
He fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
